Iconic British pottery manufacturer Wedgwood was founded in 1959 by Josiah Wedgwood, who was born into a family of potters. His brother refused him a partnership in the family business, so Josiah opened a works of his own at the Brick House Factory in Stoke-on-Trent, and started creating durable, simple crockery.

Wedgwood are world renowned for their Jasperware, coloured blue porcelain with white moulded reliefs, inspired by ancient mythologies of the Romans, Greeks and Egyptians. His cream coloured earthenware was christened ‘Queen’s Ware’ after Queen Charlotte fell in love with it and appointed him Queen’s Potter.
