After she tried and failed to find a birthday present for her mum, Emma Bridgewater realised there was a gap in the market for pottery that was beautiful and practical. Thus she began her company in 1985 with the aim to create pottery for a relaxed, colourful and mismatched life. Currently run by Emma and her husband Matthew Rice, the couple draws inspiration from their everyday life with their four children and only design things that they love and want to use at home themselves.
Although pottery is and always will be at the heart of the company, in recent years they have come out of the kitchen and used their patterns on a growing range of other products including glass, tins, picnicware, wallpaper and fabrics. Their collection of glassware includes beautiful hand-etched pieces, from elegant glass cake stands to everday glasses and tumblers. Each is a stunning way to add instant glamour to your home.
